Welcome Tom Ryan
Tom Ryan, a good friend and longtime digital music guy, has recently fired up a blog. Tom started a company called Cductive in 1996. Cductive was one of the earliest digital music offerings and focused to a significant degree on electronic music. I was a big fan as had moved back from London (arguably the center of the electronic music scene at that time) in 1998 to pursue an MBA at Berkeley (as I wished to start a discovery-focused digital music venture).
Interestingly, Cductive sold unrestricted MP3s on an a la carte basis. Many (myself included) think that’s where digital music sales are heading next, now 10+ years on!
In any event, welcome Tom and check out an interesting story that highlights the important role of mobile phones in the developing world.
